[Q.5] Does true discipleship only happen in a small group?
[A.5] If we study and model after the pattern set by Jesus with the twelve disciples we see that true discipleship involves small group to be sure. The disciples are a kind of new Israel with its tribes symbolically represented in the 12 Jesus called to be with Him. But we also see Jesus teaching them in large groups. Crowds and throngs of thousands of people gathered to hear and learn from His teaching of God’s Word (what we call Foyer events, ie. Weekend worship). And we see him meeting with median size groups and telling stories, as well as giving the disciples ministry tasks to be about in serving the people (what we call Family Rooms, ie. Married You Live). All these levels were valuable parts of the true discipleship process.
